The new Netflix Original Movie The Highwaymen stars Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner as the Texas Rangers responsible for stopping Bonnie and Clyde in 1934. For this The Highwaymen review I actually got to see this film in the theater before it’s Netflix release. It was an enjoyable trip to the movies, however if I didn’t already have an affinity for this era and old fashioned cop dramas I might have gotten a little bored.
The Highwaymen is a good movie and very well produced and directed but the trailer sells it a little more as an action movie similar to Michale Mann’s Public Enemies and The Highwaymen is not. It’s a fairly slow paced investigation about some aging lawmen. While I did enjoy it, I’m not sure I’d recommend it to anyone not already interested in the cast, setting and/or story.
