A press statement states that the upcoming season’s filming started in Alberta, Canada, in May 2023. Ten episodes in Season 17 will help the show reach the landmark of 250 episodes. Season 17 won’t be available on Netflix for a bit, but it will make its Canadian debut this fall.
The first episode of Heartland season 16 aired in October 2022, and the season’s last episode aired in February 2023. It’s hardly surprising that we had to wait a while for a season 17 renewal given that it took CBC nearly six months after the season 15 finale aired to renew Heartland for the 16th season.
The official synopsis of Heartland 17 says, “In Season 17, Amy (Amber Marshall) and the rest of the Heartland family know better than most that while dreams can sometimes come true, more often life takes us in unexpected directions.
The new season is all about embracing the unexpected. It’s about new experiences and taking the path less traveled. In Season 17 the Bartlett-Fleming family will find themselves excited for the future and ready to embrace new adventures, challenges, and relationships. But no matter how much things may change, Amy, Lou (Michelle Morgan), Jack (Shaun Johnston), and Tim (Chris Potter) will continue to fight for what they believe in while staying rooted in the land that has been in the Bartlett-Fleming family for generations.”
However, Netflix subscribers will have to wait a lot longer to enjoy season 17 of the show. Seasons 15 and 16 aren’t currently available on the streamer, which is why. Season 15 of Heartland will be available on Netflix on May 31; season 16 has not yet been given a Netflix release date.
